Gemstone Care

Most gemstones will respond well to warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush at home. However, some gems do have sensitivities. Ultrasonic cleaning is not suitable for all types of gemstone jewelry and it should be used with caution. The machine’s vibration can damage porous, brittle, and fragile gems. Ultrasonic cleaning is okay if gems are not fractured, filled, or dyed – diamond, ruby, sapphire, amethyst, citrine, garnet.

Do not use ultrasonic cleaning. Avoid sudden temperature changes, abrasives and contact with cosmetics, hairspray, perfume or household chemicals:
